Title: Funny Story
By: Emily Henry

Happy July, Neighbors!

I am so excited to share with you a book by an author that is no stranger to you (if you’ve read my reviews and recommendations before). I’m also not one to re-read books, but you better believe that I did re-read this one! I finished it and loved it and realized how much I didn’t want it to be over. So, I started it again refusing to allow this story to end!

Why? Because Funny Story by Emily Henry has it all! Romance, humor, revenge, and the reality of all the feels of break-up and the butterflies in finding love again. Let’s get into it!

But first, backstory. So, Daphne and Peter are engaged. Peter decides that he is actually in love with his childhood best friend, Petra. Petra, was dating Miles when this all too drastic and upending revelation came, so Daphne and Miles move in as roommates because they are both stranded in a lease situation and need help with rent. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is where this (funny) story begins.

So now, Daphne and Miles are roommates, but they are both too busy drowning in their sorrows to really pay attention to one another. They are like ships in the night, knowing the other is there, but seeing no evidence, and having very little interaction. Until one day, Daphne gets a wedding invitation in the mail to Peter and Petra’s wedding (yes, you read that right) and you better believe that after the initial shock of the actual audacity of it, (because who in the world would send a wedding invite to the ex you broke it off with for the new one? But I digress…) a meltdown on Daphne’s part follows. But, it also forces Daphne and Miles to start talking it out. And talk they did. So much so that they devise a plan.

Are you ready for it? Daphne RSVP’s “Yes” to the wedding, with a plus one. Did you guess it yet? Of course you did because what’s pettier? Inviting your ex-fiancée to your wedding, or having that ex-fiancée bring your bride-to-be’s ex as a date to said wedding?

Are you hooked yet? This book will one hundred percent be the perfect poolside/vacation read, or during happy hour on your patio with a blanket and a sippy sip of your choice. You will devour the funny story that is the start of Daphne and Miles relationship through revenge, pettiness, fake dating, and also dealing with real life emotions of a break-up.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did! Happy reading!

Jill xoxo
